Check out the Harford Writers’ Group!
In 1999, a group of Harford Community College students, enrolled in a creative writing course, decided to keep meeting after the semester ended. Initially, the writers met at each others’ houses, but as the group grew, the members realized they needed a larger venue. Fortunately, the Bel Air branch of the Harford County Public Library offered space free of charge, and the Harford Writers’ Group was born.

Harford County Living: Stu Kangaroo is book of the month!

Harford County Living named Stu Kangaroo the book of the month for July 2020! I joined Rich Bennett in June on the Harford County Living podcast. Click here to listen!
Student designs for Lou Caribou!
I read Stu Kangaroo to a small group of children at Good Shepherd Children’s Center in Joppatowne, MD.
Afterward, children and staff channeled their inner Bob Mackie and Edith Head and designed costumes for Lou Caribou, one of the book’s main characters, per the activity sheet I created for the story (which you can access here!). Some of the fabulous frocks appear here.
Many thanks go out to director Janelle Schmidt, the kind teachers, and the wonderful children at GSCC!
